A message from David Gilbey, CTiC Chairman

The media increasingly tells us that British society has become pluralistic. But within Chelmsford, the birthplace of Radio and one of Britain’s newest City's, the Good News of Jesus Christ is still being broadcast, loud and clear! For years, the Christians of Chelmsford have worked and prayed within our parishes and communities, bringing practical expressions of God's love to those who live, work and visit here.

Across denominations, traditions and within our Christian organisations; Foodbank, CHESS Homeless, Street Pastors, Schools Youth Ministries, Prison Fellowship, to name but a few, there is an increasing belief here, that Jesus' message of life and hope, is more effectively spread when we are together, 'as one'.

Since 2015, Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer has also become a key organisation in our City. Interactive prayer spaces within different churches, prayer walks and other prayer events have contributed to the greater sense of unity, as together we have sought God’s blessing over Chelmsford and every one of our citizens.

To re-enforce our journey of unity, in 2016, 'Churches Together in Chelmsford' was re-named, 'Christians Together...'

So far, in 2018, our City has seen demonstrations of Christian's working together to facilitate our first ever Civic Prayer Breakfast and support an ambitious youth mission, involving several of our senior schools. Our traditional Good Friday Procession and City Centre Service of Witness, with its strong evangelistic message, was said by many to be one of the best ever!

The Christian community in Chelmsford is well positioned for the future. We will increasingly pray together for our City, for prayer is the 'engine' that must power our efforts. We will be ever more relational, become friends, in a unity that is only truly found through Jesus Christ. Not least, we will move forward with the rhythm of the heartbeat of God’s love, setting the pace for everything we do.

God loves Chelmsford. So do we! 'Love Chelmsford' must be both our aspiration and surely a wonderful working title for the season ahead?

We would especially value forming and building relationships with new supporters and if you would like any further details on the work of CTiC or its events, please contact our Secretary, Richard Cecil.
